This page contains information about the different types of Damage in Fate/Another
Magical Damage[]
The most common and easy to understand form of damage, Magical damage is basically what the majority of skills and items do, if they do damage. This is reduced by Great Magic, which is basically magical resistance. All magical damage is reduced by Great Magic, as well as the effects of protection scrolls. There are several exceptions to this, with many skills passing through the weakest protection scroll, B Scroll.

Physical Damage[]
Physical damage is also very common, that is, it's the default attack that everyone comes with. You can activate it by right-clicking or issuing an Attack command on a target, whereupon your servant will move to it and begin hitting it. Magic Damage attack types are no longer reduced by Magic Resistance or blocked B Rank Magic Scroll. They however do 2x damage on Rule Breaker.

Pure Damage[]
Only four skills and one combo in the game utilize Pure Damage, that is Damage that is completely unblockable by both Armor and Protection scrolls, unless the spell itself is coded otherwise. False Assassin's Tsubame Gaeshi, Diarmuid's Gáe Dearg, Gilles De Rais' Territory Life Drain, No Second Strike and Strike of Seven Holes (Combo). (See spells for additional details.)
- Additional Notes on Pure Damage: Pure damage is reduced to 1 while Rule Breakered(Banished), however if link is applied to the target then the damage will be increased as it has turned into Magic Damage.
You can reduce damage by applying a Spirit Link Scroll, which will then reduce damage by the servant's Great Magic and protection scrolls. Being invulnerable will stop the damage but not cancel the spell.
